The Property – where it all started

In 2015 we bought half of a tired old building on a corner plot just a 5 minute walk from the sea, securing the other half in 2017. We have since transformed the entire building, both inside and out, to make our dream come true of providing both a home for ourselves (1st & 2nd floor) and a holiday home (ground floor) for those wanting to share in what we have created.

Originally from Surrey, we relocated here ourselves in 2015 having seen Southbourne featured on the C4 programme Location, Location, Location. We love what we have achieved and hope that you will too.

      DESCRIPTION

      Stourwood Corner is situated on a corner plot on a quiet tree lined avenue leading to the over cliff. The beach is accessed via slope to promenade (Gordon’s Zig Zag) or by venicular (Fisherman’s walk, dependant on season). The property is located in Southbourne, a relaxed suburb just East of Bournemouth. Southbourne’s primary attraction is its sandy Blue Flag beach, which provides a quiet retreat along the coast from bustling Bournemouth, while nearby Hengistbury Head offers walks out to Mudeford spit exploring protected heath, wooded footpaths, seashore and harbour. On a clear day the views over Isle of Wight and Christchurch are simply stunning!

      Southbourne is an amazing place to both live and holiday, quieter than neighbouring Bournemouth yet sharing the same 7+ mile expanse of sandy beach and offering its own high street ‘ Southbourne Grove’ with an array of independent shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. As Southbourne has so much to offer you may feel you don’t need to go into Bournemouth itself but if you do there is a very regular 24hr bus service that goes to Bournemouth (and Christchurch in the other direction) with the bus stop being just a 2 minute walk away.

      ACCOMMODATION

      Ideally suited to families and extended families ( babysitting* services are available) looking to enjoy some quality family time in a high standard of accommodation by the sea. It is also suited to couples and professionals looking for a high quality home from home base whilst visiting the area to attend an event or on business. 

      All bedrooms are on the large side:

      Bedroom 1: Superking size bed with ensuite shower room

      Bedroom 2: Superking size bed (can also be arranged as 2 single beds – please confirm if single beds are required on booking)

      Bedroom 3: Bunk Beds (suit under 12 years only), Sofa bed

      A travel cot is available and can be set up in any room

      * Whilst time with family is precious we recall only too well how there may be occasions when you may prefer some time away from your children. Our daughter, Emma, who works as a room leader in a nursery and great with children of all ages has been working in childcare for over 7 years ( nurseries and nannying) and is available to babysit during evenings or at weekends by prior arrangement. Please enquire on booking if this is something you’d be interested in (at extra cost) to avoid disappointment. Emma is also a real animal lover so happy to look after pets too.

      If you would like your ( well behaved) dog to holiday with you then this will be considered on an individual basis ( additional costs will apply). Please contact me to discuss.

      We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and in making your stay with us special. If you have any additional requests then please do just ask us. We deal with all aspects of your booking and stay ourselves.

      Being in a quiet residential area the property is NOT available for stag, hen or other noisy parties. 

      We offer flexibility on start dates for bookings but do ask that you book for at least a 3 night stay (7 nights in August)
