You will be spoilt for choice staying at Stourwood Corner as there is just so much to see and do.You will find lots of leaflets and information in the property but below are just a few of our personal favourites:

Hengistbury Head

Hengistbury Head….an amazing place to go for a walk and so much more. The views on a clear day over Christchurch harbour, Mudeford Spit and Isle of Wight are simply stunning. Come down over the head and onto Mudeford Spit, home to the most expensive beach huts in UK. Catch the pedestrian ferry over to Mudeford and enjoy a nice pub lunch or crabbing over the harbour wall (children love this).

Corfe Castle

Corfe Castle….take the steam train from Swanage and make a day out of it. Come back via the Studland chain ferry, looking over towards Brownsea Island ( another favourite destination) and drive back through Sandbanks area.

The New Forest

New Forest – a must for everyone…just seeing the ponies, cattle, deer, wild bore ( dependent on season) roam free never ceases to bring on a smile. So many great villages and tourist attractions there too….

Dorset Heavy Horse Farm

Dorset Heavy Horse Centre….a great day out for families and it’s dog friendly.

Paulton’s Park

Paultons Park…or should we call it Peppa Pig World as that is why the younger members of the family love it so much….a chance to meet Peppa Pig and friends on a great day out.

Places to eat and drink

Southbourne has a reputation for having some of the best cafes, bars and restaurants in the area…and so many within a short walk of the property, so no need to worry about how you get home. Our personal favourites include:
Casa Carlos – True home cooked Spanish food made by Carlos himself….his Paella is amazing!
Ludo Lounge – great atmosphere and great for just a drink or have a meal too.
Larderhouse (and Library bar upstairs) – intimate and more expensive but great for a special treat.
Urban Reef – a great seafront bar/restaurant….whether breakfast, just a coffee or for an evening meal it’s one of our favourite places to go.
Spyglass and Kettle – great stop off point for a drink on the way back up from the beach.
